The Gurugram-based electric mobility arm of SAR Group, Lectrix EV, has recently rolled out its new electric two-wheeler.

The e-scooter is the cheapest and most affordable high-speed electric scooter in the Indian market so far. The unique thing about this electric scooter is that it comes with a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) program.

This means that customers can enjoy an unlimited battery warranty by paying for the battery services on a subscription basis. The first-ever e-scooter with a battery-as-a-service program comes with a price tag of only Rs 49,999.

During the launch of the electric scooter, EV Business, Lectrix EV President, Pritesh Talwar, claimed that customers will get more benefits under the BaaS program. He further said that by delinking the battery from the vehicle, and providing it as a service, the EV experience becomes more affordable and accessible for customers compared to paying Rs 100,000 to buy an ICE vehicle. The new electric scooter is half the price, reported TimesBull.

Other than this, Talwar added that the monthly investment in petrol is skyrocketing, and this, combined with the maintenance cost of an ICE vehicle, is making our subscription plan more economical as the cost of vehicle maintenance and petrol varies every month.

Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) Program: All you Need To Know

This program means that the company will offer customers a battery-as-a-service facility along with this electric scooter. However, EV owners will have to pay a separate monthly subscription of Rs 1499 for the battery.

It is the first company in India that is working to disassemble batteries and provide them as a service to customers. Its unique feature is that the company has introduced the battery of the electric scooter with a lifetime warranty, which will resolve battery-related issues.

Once the battery of this affordable, high-speed electric scooter is fully charged, the company claims that a driving range of up to 100 kilometres can be attained. Moreover, it can reach a maximum speed of 50 kilometres per hour and maintain that pace.

So, if you are planning to buy a good high-speed electric scooter with a budget of around Rs 50,000, then this electric scooter is for you.

Meanwhile, the company launched the LXS 2.0 electric scooter in February 2024 that promises a range of 98 km on a single charge. EV owners get a 2.3 kWh battery pack and is priced at an accessible Rs 79,999 (ex-showroom). According to the company, the new LXS 2.0 addresses three crucial customer needs – range, value and quality.
