indians are rich people, we don’t go to poor countries virender sehwag bluntly trolls adam gilchrist

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, known for his sharp wit and humour both on and off the cricket field, has once again made headlines with his candid remarks on the Club Prairie Podcast. During a lighthearted exchange with former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist, Sehwag delivered a tongue-in-cheek comment that has sparked mixed reactions among fans and critics alike.

Sehwag’s remark came in response to a question posed by Gilchrist regarding Indian cricketers’ participation in international T20 leagues.

“Do you see a time when Indian players will be able to play in other T20 leagues?” Gilchrist asked.

Sehwag’s reply was an instant classic with a hint of playful exaggeration, he quipped, “No, we don’t need to. We are rich people, we don’t go to poor countries for other leagues.”

Sehwag also recalled an episode in which he refused an offer from the Big Bash League because the amount was too low.

“I still remember when I was dropped from the Indian team and I was playing IPL. Then I got an offer from BBL that I should participate in the Big Bash, I said okey how much money, they said $100,000.

“I said I can spend that money in my holidays, even last night bill was more than that,” the 45-year-old jokingly revealed.

Meanwhile, with the T20 World cup in sight, Sehwag has backed youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal to perform well and said that he is all but certain to board the flight to the USA and West Indies.

Sehwag also said that Jaiswal should not think too much about comparisons with India legend Sachin Tendulkar.

“See, even I was compared with Sachin Tendulkar during my early days. But the sooner you keep it out of your mind, the better. I don’t think Yashasvi Jaiswal thinks too much about being compared with me. Comparison can hurt you. I can’t perform like Tendulkar. Let Sehwag be Sehwag. You know the most about your game, focus on working on that,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

“I don’t believe in comparisons. When I was compared, I made some changes in stance and how I played, so people stop saying that I look or bat like Tendulkar. The tag of comparison comes with immense pressure. I have high hopes for his boy. When you come from a small city, uou know you have to put the hard work otherwise you might have to go back. He will come back to form soon. I believe his ticket and visa for the World Cup is confirmed,” Sehwag further said.
