WhatsApp working on a new feature, might let users view documents without downloading
WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in India and has millions of followers across the globe. For most people, their day begins by checking WhatsApp messages and connecting with family as well as friends. And the Meta-owned company, in the last few months, has announced several new features to enhance the overall user experience. Now, WhatsApp is reported to be working on another feature that would make it easier for users to share documents.Â
As per a report in WA Beta Info, WhatsApp is testing a new feature for Android. The messaging app, as per the report, is pondering over the idea of including document previews. This means when you share a document, you will see a small picture of it before you open it. It’s like a sneak peek and will make it easier to find the right document in your chat because you’ll know what it looks like without having to open it. This will come in handy especially when you are sharing photos or videos, as previews will allow you to judge the contents of the document without having to open it.Â
Currently, if you share a photo or video on WhatsApp as a document, the receiver won’t be able to view it unless they download it. With this upcoming feature, this problem will be resolved.Â
Apart from this, WhatsApp is also reported to be working on a feature that would suggest contacts to chat. These contacts, as per reports, would be those with whom the user hasn’t had a conversation in a long time.Â
Earlier, the feature was reported to be available to Android users only but latest WA Beta Info report said that even iOS users will be getting the feature.Â
According to a screenshot shared by WA Beta Info, selected beta testers are being treated to the new feature, which is said to be aimed at enhancing the communication experience. Positioned conveniently at the bottom of the chats list, this feature offers users effortless access to potential new conversations without disrupting their ongoing chats.
It’s worth highlighting that users who prefer not to receive suggestions for initiating new chats can easily opt out by closing the dedicated section located at the bottom of the chats list.
It is to be noted that even though WA Beta Info is a reliable source, the feature hasn’t officially been announced by WhatsApp, and thus we must wait for some kind of official announcement.Â
