ranji trophy: musheer khan hits maiden double hundred to rescue mumbai in quarters
Young Indian allrounder Musheer Khan hit his maiden double hundred to rescue Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals against Baroda. He stepped onto the field with Mumbai reeling at 99/4 after choosing to bat first at the BKC Ground. Prithvi Shaw and Bhupen Lalwani built a strong opening stand but four wickets fell in a hurry.
The track in Mumbai, notorious for its red soil, presented a formidable challenge as Bhargav Bhatt, Baroda’s experienced left-arm spinner, exploited the conditions to his advantage, making the ball hiss around right from the first session.
Musheer, batting at No. 3, showcased maturity beyond his years. Facing a daunting task, he anchored Mumbai’s innings with a masterful unbeaten hundred, his maiden first-class century.

Musheer, the younger brother of India batter Sarfaraz Khan, came into the playing eleven as a replacement for the injured all-rounder Shivam Dube.
“My job is far from done but I am very happy since it is my first (first-class) hundred. I will try to take the game as far as possible,” Musheer told the media after the end of Day 1’s play.
“My mindset was to keep speaking with my partner and play for the remainder of the day. It was not an easy wicket and the idea was to go for the boundary balls or else keep working with the singles,” he added.
