Tata Motors beats Hyundai in domestic car sales in February 2024

Tata Motors has beaten Hyundai Motor India in domestic passenger vehicle (PV) volume in February 2024. While the homegrown auto major sold 51,267 units during the month, the Indian arm of the South Korean auto giant sent 50,201 units to its dealers.

Tata has been registering handsome volume over the past few months on the back of a strong show from its SUVs like the Punch and Nexon. Even Hyundai’s SUVs like the Exter, Venue and Creta have performed quite well.

While Hyundai trailed Tata in terms of domestic volume, it was way ahead in exports in February 2024. The Creta-maker shipped 10,300 units as against 54 units of the Nexon-maker.

The overall PV volume (domestic + export) of Hyundai came in at 60,501 units during the month. In comparison, Tata despatched 51,321 units.

The PV portfolio of Tata includes the Tiago, Tiago.ev, Tigor, Tigor.ev, Altroz, Punch, Punch.ev, Nexon, Nexon.ev, Harrier and Safari.

Hyundai currently offers 13 models — Grand i10 Nios, i20, i20 N Line, Aura, Verna, Exter, Venue, Venue N Line, Creta, Alcazar, Tucson, Kona Electric and Ioniq 5. It will launch the Creta N Line on March 11.
