Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler scored yet another century for the ages as he sealed an epic run-chase over the Kolkata Knight Riders in their home ground at the Eden Gardens. The visitors equalled the record, which was already held by RR, of chasing the highest total in IPL history thanks to the century by the England skipper to secure the win and maintain the top spot in IPL 2024.
The Royals continue to have a fantastic track record of chasing down big totals. The win against KKR meant that they equalled the record held when RR chased down 224 against the Kings XI Punjab (now renamed to Punjab Kings).
Leading the chase tonight, Jos Buttler played the lead role to script an epic victory. He struggled to find his rhythm through the innings but found his touch through the latter stages of the innings.

The previous record was another classic where Rahul Tewatia who now plays for GT, had a similar issue with finding his touch but the faith paid off as he found his groove by smacking five sixes in the 18th over to turn the tides in the Royals’ favour.

The next best was in the battle between the most successful sides of the tournament. Mumbai Indians came out on top against the Chennai Super Kings with the former WI skipper, Kieron Pollard playing an insane knock of 87 in 34 deliveries to help seal the win at Delhi.
Coming back to 2024, it has been one that has shattered many records with batters taking things to a new level. In the previous game, it was the Sunrisers Hyderabad who set a new record for the most runs scored in an innings with Travis Head leading the way. If things continue to go like this. Sky is truly the limit.
