'Heeramandi' first reviews out: 'In awe of you Sanjay Leela Bhansali'

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series ‘Heeramandi’ had its premiere in Mumbai on Wednesday, April 24. The event was attended by the who’s who of the film industry, including the show’s cast. Genelia Deshmukh was among those who watched the first two episodes of ‘Heeramandi’ and shared her views about it on social media.

“Just saw 2 episodes of Heeramandi, and it has me craving for more. What a world, what a journey you take us through, Sanjay Sir. Mesmerized as always. Loved, loved, loved the entire cast and what a super effort by the crew too. Netflix, this is truly special (sic),” Genelia wrote on Instagram, while posting a picture of herself with Bhansali.

Esha Deol also attended the premiere of ‘Heeramandi’. She was left in awe of actor Fardeen Khan’s performance in the show. She wrote on Instagram, “Spectacular show. Welcome back, Fardeen Khan, proud of you,” and added a heart emoji. She posted a video of meeting Bhansali at the premiere and wrote, “In awe of you, Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”

‘Heeramandi’, a period drama, is touted as an ‘epic saga of love, power, betrayal, struggle, and, ultimately, freedom’. The show is set against the backdrop of India’s freedom movement. The ensemble cast of the series includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan, Adhyayan Suman, and Taha Shah.

It will be streaming on Netflix from May 1.
