Kiran Rao made a noteworthy comeback in the film industry with Laapataa Ladies. Soon after its release, the comedy-drama gained widespread acclaim from reviewers and audiences. Kiran Rao donned the director’s hat after 14 years since the release of Dhobi Ghat and skillfully touched upon subjects prevalent in society under the veil of humour in her latest film. While many actors and filmmakers praised the movie, actress Anjali Anand recently expressed her joy after watching Laapataa Ladies.
Laapataa Ladies was released earlier this month, and recently, Anjali Anand got a chance to watch the film. In her Instagram stories, she shared her review of the film. In her update, she wrote, “I’m going to sleep extra peacefully tonight. I’m so happy we’re making such good films, and seeing so much crowd at the movies to watch GOOD movies is just heavenly If you haven’t, please go watch Laapataa Ladies.”
Laapataa Ladies was shot in Madhya Pradesh and is set amid the rural backdrop of the fictional Nirmal Pradesh. The film begins in a second-class train car with several recently married couples on their way to their respective villages. The brides wear long ghunghats, or veils, that obscure their faces. The story takes a turn when one of the couples reaches the village and discovers that he brought another bride home instead of his own.
The comedy-drama is produced by Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions. The film was written by Sneha Desai, Biplab Goswami and Divyanidhi Sharma. The ensemble cast of Laapata Ladies includes Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan and was released in theatres on March 1.
Anjali Anand is recognised for her role in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Prior to that, she played notable characters in daily soaps. Anjali Anand is known for her roles in series such as Dhhai Kilo Prem and Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala. Her popularity increased following her appearance on season 13 of the stunt-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi. Most recently, Anjali Anand appeared as a participant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 11 and impressed the judges with her dancing skills. The actress has now been cast in Farhan Akhtar’s forthcoming drama Dabba Cartel.
