‘GOAT’ team to use AI to resurrect Vijayakanth in Vijay film, confirms Premalatha
Director Venkat Prabhu of Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film, ‘GOAT’, approached late actor-politician Vijayakanth’s family to resurrect him using Artificial Intelligence for a cameo in the film. In an interview with Galatta, Vijayakanth’s wife and politician, Premalatha confirmed that the talks have been going on for the past few weeks. She further revealed that she and her sons will take a positive decision after the Lok Sabha Elections, which is fast approaching.Â
Prematha, who is the president of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), has been busy campaigning for the election. During one of the interviews, she said, “Venkat Prabhu visited our house 4-5 times and had several rounds of talks with my son, Shanmugapandian. He also requested him to meet me. I recently went to Chennai for the election campaign, and we met regarding the same. He explained that they wanted to bring back Captain [Vijayakanth] alive in a scene in ‘GOAT’. They sought our permission. He also added that Vijay wanted to meet me in person.”Â
“I am thinking from Captain’s point of view and what he would have said. Everyone knows that Captain acted with Vijay in ‘Sendhoorapaandi’ to propel his career. He always loved Vijay and his father, SA Chandrasekhar. And Vijayakanth  worked with SA Chandrasekhar in 17 films. I know how Captain loved them both. If Captain was alive, he would never say no. I’ve told them the same. Once the election is over, let Vijay come and meet me and I’ll give the good news,” she explained.
“I knew Venkat Prabhu from his younger days. We have seen and grown up with Raaja sir’s [Ilaiyaaraja] family.  I told Venkat Prabhu and I would never be able to say no to you or Vijay. I promised to share good news after the election is over,” Premalatha added.Â
Director Venkat Prabhu’s ‘GOAT’ is Vijay’s 68th film, before he plunges into politics. The commercial entertainer is currently progressing at a brisk pace in Russia. The most-awaited film will release in theatres on September 5 worldwide.Â
‘GOAT’ or ‘The Greatest of all time’ features an ensemble cast with Vijay playing two roles. Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prashanth, Prabhudheva, Mohan, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila and Ajmal Ameer feature in pivotal roles. Produced by AGS Entertainment, ‘GOAT’ has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni and editing by Venkat Raajen.
