Girls Aloud gaat na elf jaar weer toeren

Girls Aloud is officieel weer bij elkaar. Na een pauze van elf jaar gaan de vier overgebleven leden van de meidengroep weer optreden, is woensdag bekendgemaakt.

Cheryl, Kimberley, Nadine en Nicola spelen in mei in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Ierland. De optredens worden opgedragen aan de in 2021 overleden Sarah Harding, het vijfde lid van Girls Aloud.

Voorlopig hoeven fans niet te rekenen op nieuwe muziek, benadrukt de groep. “Zonder Sarah zou dat raar zijn”, aldus Cheryl.

Girls Aloud ontstond in 2003 uit de talentenjacht Popstars – the Rivals. Ook in Nederland hadden de meiden succes en scoorde de groep hits met nummers als Jump en Sound of the Underground.
