‘Ghilli’ is one of the most-watched films in Tamil, and the 2004 release has been topping the TRP rating whenever it’s aired on television. ‘Ghilli’ featuring Vijay in the lead role has been re-released in theatres, and the digitalized version of the 20-year-old film was released on a wide number of screens worldwide. Fans have been celebrating the film like a new release, and they have been going along with the film’s dialogues and songs to the film in theatres. Theatres have turned into festival arenas as fans have been well enjoying ‘Ghilli’, while videos from the theatre celebrations grab wider attention on social media. ‘Ghilli’ villain Prakash Raj has reacted to fans’ massive response to the film’s re-release in theatres.

While answering the Press and Media about the ‘Ghilli’ re-release, Prakash Raj said that he is extremely happy about the massive response and love for his character Muthu Pandi. He then called ‘Ghilli’ a fantastic film as people love the combo of him, Trisha, and Vijay. Even after repeated telecasts on TV, the crowd in theaters is surreal. Prakash Raj then quoted his video of his answer about ‘Ghilli’ re-release on his social media, and wrote that “I Love You all CHELLAMS… for loving #Muthupaandi… touched by your love . And yes…thank you director #Dharani producer #AMrathnam sir.. my dear #Vijay and my Chellam @trishtrashers and the whole team of #Ghilli”.
