Noida: Farmer march may cause traffic jams

Farmers affiliated with Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) Tikait and BKU Lokshakti are set to mobilize in Noida today, advocating for legislation ensuring a minimum support price (MSP), potentially causing traffic congestion. Noida police have issued a traffic advisory in anticipation of this event. The Delhi Police and Gautam Buddha Nagar Police, it said, will conduct thorough checks, erecting barriers along all borders from Gautam Buddha Nagar to Delhi.

This will likely heighten traffic on routes from Gautam Buddha Nagar to Delhi border and Yamuna Expressway, including Luharli Toll Plaza. Emergency situations will prompt traffic diversions as necessary. To mitigate congestion, commuters heading to Delhi are encouraged to utilize metro services. Restrictions on various types of goods vehicles will be enforced along specific routes, such as from Yamuna Expressway to Delhi via Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and from Sirsa to Surajpur via Parichowk.

Pawan Khatana, president of BKU Tikait (west UP), had urged farmers to join a tractor march towards the Noida-Delhi border, starting from Greater Noida and moving along the Yamuna Expressway to the Chilla border via Noida Expressway. Farmers will gather at Jewar toll plaza before proceeding to Chilla border, demanding MSP and other rights for agriculturalists. Shyoraj Singh, president of BKU Lokshakti, highlights various farmer demands, including MSP, Swaminathan Committee recommendations, debt waivers, disaster compensation, and protection from stray animals, intending to present these demands to district authorities on February 29. Meanwhile, Bhartiya Kisan Parishad and All India Kisan Sabha concluded their protests in Noida and Greater Noida after the UP government formed a committee to address their grievances regarding compensation and land allocation.

Intensive checking will be done by Delhi Police and Gautam Buddha Nagar Police by installing barriers on all the borders from Gautam Buddha Nagar to Delhi border, due to which traffic pressure will increase on the routes from Gautam Buddha Nagar to Delhi border and Yamuna Expressway, Luharli Toll Plaza etc. In case of emergency, traffic will be diverted as per requirement.

People going to Delhi please use metros as much as possible to avoid traffic inconvenience. Arrival of all types of goods vehicles will be restricted on the route from Yamuna Expressway to Delhi via Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and from Sirsa to Surajpur via Parichowk. To avoid traffic inconvenience, drivers can use alternative routes to reach their destination –

• Vehicles going from Chilla Border to Delhi will be able to reach their destination via Sector 14A flyover via Golchakkar Chowk Sector 15, Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk, Jhundpura Chowk.
• Vehicles going from DND border to Delhi will be able to reach their destination using the elevated via Filmcity flyover, Sector 18.
• Vehicles going from Kalindi border to Delhi will be able to reach their destination via Mahamaya flyover via Sector 37.
• Traffic going to Delhi using Yamuna Expressway will be able to get down from Jewar Toll towards Khurja and reach the destination via Jahangirpur.
• The traffic going to Delhi via Sirsa, Parichowk after getting off the Peripheral Expressway will be able to go to the destination via Dadri, Dasna instead of getting down at Sirsa.
• Using NH-91, traffic going from Ghaziabad, Dadri to Bulandshahr will be able to reach the destination from Ghaziabad via Hapur.
• Using NH-91, the traffic going from Bulandshahr towards Dadri will be able to reach the destination from Bulandshahr via Hapur.
• Emergency vehicles will be sent to safe destinations during diversion.
