Diljit Dosanjh on breaking Punjabi stereotypes: ‘I proved them wrong’

Diljit Dosanjh’s Mumbai concert was a night to remember for numerous reasons. During his concert, the actor-singer took center stage and spoke about breaking Punjabi stereotypes through his body of work.Â

Diljit Dosanjh rocked Mumbaikers through his concert on April 14. Several Bollywood stars reverberated to the tunes and tracks crooned by the Punjabi singer during his grand show.Â

Now, in a video, Diljit is seen engaging with fans on stage, addressing stereotypes about Punjabis. He counters misconceptions, affirming their fashion sense, acting abilities, and success in Mumbai.Â

“They said Punjabis aren’t fashionable and I said, I will show you. They said Punjabis can’t act in films, I showed them I could. They said Punjabis can’t go to Mumbai, and I proved them wrong. They said Punjabis can’t sell tickets for the bar arena, I had the stadium packed at my concert. They said Punjabis can’t do Illuminati, I said, I will do ‘Di-Luminati,” said the actor-singer as he announced his Vancouver concert on April 27.

Celebrities like Varun Dhawan, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Vijay Varma shared enjoyable moments from Diljit’s concert. The artist delivered hit tracks like Lover’, ‘Naina’, ‘Vibe’, and ‘Ek Kudi’. Diljit himself shared a series of videos and photos from the event, indicating a joyous time. The singer, currently reveling in the success of Imtiaz Ali’s biopic, ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ which is currently streaming on Netflix.Â
