Malayalam actor Dhyan Sreenivasan is currently enjoying the overwhelmingly positive response to his latest release Varshangalkku Sesham, in which he played one of the two primary characters in his older brother Vineeth Sreenivasan’s directorial.

In a recent interview with the YouTube channel Cue Studio, Dhyan revealed that he has plans to return to writing and directing a film soon.

Dhyan Sreenivasan, who is affectionately known among the audience as ‘The Interview Star’ for his open and entertaining interviews, recently gave an interview in which he uncharacteristically delved into a serious discussion on cinema with the host. While opening up on the process of playing a character’s school days all the way to old age in Varshangalkku Sesham, Dhyan also dropped a few hints on the next few projects that he is excited about, including a possible return to writing and directing a film after his hit debut film Love Action Drama (2019), which had Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara in the lead roles.

“Cinema has been evolving very quickly over each season. So, the question arises on what kind of cinema to make in a situation where preferences are trend-based. Over the last five years, I have been gradually observing this evolution. I have narrated different stories to a lot of actors and got a ‘yes’ from most of them, but now the confusion is which of these stories do I go ahead with, and when,” the actor said.

Future Projects

He further revealed that as of February-March 2025, he will seriously get into the pre-production work for his next directorial as soon as his current acting commitments are done.

“It is a Rom Com, the love story of a middle-aged man. A pure situational comedy fun film,” he revealed.

Along with this, Dhyan also spoke about other exciting projects including 9 MM, the upcoming film that he had written for Manju Warrier.

“Nine MM is a film we had planned as a bilingual with heavy elements of action revolving around a violent shootout, but the scale of it will take us some more time,” he said, while adding that there was a strong possibility for a sequel to his debut film Thira (2013).

“Thira 2 is a strong possibility. Rakesh Mantodi, who wrote Thira, has a complete idea on what to work on, and we had spoken to a popular director who was excited to be on board. Meanwhile, I had another idea for a thriller film on cybercrime with Prithviraj (Sukumaran), but it’s still in just the idea and basic research stage,” the actor revealed.
