The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday welcomed yet another former spokesperson of the Congress, Prateek Anand.
Anand, a former Indian Youth Congress (IYC) member, is also the president of the Jewellers Association.
Anand is the grandson of ex-BJP MPs Sagar Suri and Lalit Suri. During his time at the Congress, he served as the spokesperson of the IYC and also of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.
His entry into the BJP is yet another jolt to the youth wing of the grand old party.
During his induction into the BJP, Anand said, “The people of Delhi are feeling cheated under Kejriwal’s leadership. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked to strengthen this country, and we have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party today to take it further.”
He also stated that about 100 Congress workers have joined the BJP along with him and cadres of the Aam Aadmi Party too have switched to the saffron party.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought glory to the country across the world. The opposition tries to weaken it, due to which we feel cheated. That is why I left the Congress party and joined the BJP,” he said while explaining the reasons for his shift.
