Deadpool & Wolverine will release on July 26, 2024.
With the passing days, the buzz around Deadpool & Wolverine has been reaching new levels with fans getting more excited for the film’s release. Ever since the film was announced, a lot of speculation has been made regarding its storyline, with some even wondering if the film comes as a third installment in the MCU franchise. Recently, the Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated film took centre stage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas with director Shawn Levy and actor Ryan Reynolds also treating fans to an exclusive 9-minute preview.
During the event, Levy, while speaking to ScreenRant, explained why the upcoming film isn’t Deadpool 3 but will handle the two characters equally.
“As far as crafting the Deadpool and Wolverine story, I just felt privileged every day because you’re talking about two massive movie stars in their most iconic roles. It also gave me an opportunity. It’s the third Deadpool movie, but it’s not Deadpool 3. It’s a different thing that’s very much Deadpool & Wolverine. And it’s not trying to copycat anything from the first two movies. They were awesome, but this is a two-hander character adventure,” he said.
More about Deadpool & Wolverine
After making his debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Deadpool aka Wade Wilson, will be reuniting with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine. While not much is known about the film’s plot, a lot of speculation and exciting teases have been made in the last few months. Besides Reynolds and Jackman, the film will also feature Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapicic as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen.
Makers unveil special preview of Deadpool & Wolverine
During the recent event, the makers also unveiled a never-before-seen preview of the film. The footage provides a glimpse into the unconventional world of Wade Wilson as he navigates his life as a retired car salesman outside the superhero realm. Packed with a lot of trademark Deadpool jokes and humour, the preview left the audience in splits.
The clip concludes by showing Wolverine and Deadpool riding together, with Deadpool hilariously mocking his suit. “The X-Men make you wear that? Friends don’t let friends leave the house looking like they play for the Los Angeles Rams,” he says. Besides that, the footage also teased some iconic MCU heroes returning to the film, including Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Chris Evans’ Captain America.
The film is all set to hit theatres on July 26, 2024.
