AIIMS Delhi reverses decision to shut OPD on January 22 for Ram temple inauguration

The out-patient department (OPD) of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi will remain open on Monday after the administration reversed the decision to shut it till 2.30 pm on the day in view of the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.

A fresh memorandum issued on Sunday by the AIIMS administration said, “All Clinical Services including the Outpatient Services shall remain open to prevent any inconvenience to patients and to facilitate patient care services. All Chief of Centres, Heads of the Department, Units and Branch Officers are requested to bring this to the notice of all staff working under them.”

On Saturday, the institute had announced that its OPD will be shut till 2.30 pm on January 22, adding that emergency and critical services will function normally. On average, around 15,000 patients visit the AIIMS OPD daily.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), AIIMS Delhi announced that all clinical services will remain open tomorrow to “prevent any inconvenience to patients and to facilitate patient care services.”

Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena Saturday approved half-day closing of all Delhi government offices, ULBs, autonomous bodies, undertakings, boards, etc., on January 22, 2024, on account of Ram Lalla ‘Pran Pratishtha’ at Ayodhya.
