csk, rr, kkr, &…: navjot sidhu picks four teams that will qualify for ipl 2024 playoffs
Former Indian opening batter Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is doing commentary for Star Sports in the ongoing IPL 2024 season, has picked four teams that, according to him, will qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs. According to the cricketer-turned-commentator, defending champions Chennai Super Kings, table-toppers Rajasthan Royals, and two-time former champions Kolkata Knight Riders are almost certain to reach the playoffs, and the fourth team will be one between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians.
The 60-year-old former cricketer, who played in 51 Tests and 136 ODIs for India, said he would like to take a punt on the Hardik Pandya-led side despite their poor show so far in the ongoing IPL 2024.
Speaking on the Star Sports show, when asked about which four teams would make the playoffs, Sidhu said, “Teen teams ko select he kar rahi hai apne aap ko. Chennai Super Kings ho gaya, KKR ho gayi, and Rajasthan Royals ho gaya. 2 teams aisi hai jo mujhe lagta hai… Ek toh Sunrisers Hyderabad, aur ek pata nahi kyu, ek aisa daav khelne ko dil karta hai chahe kuch bhi ho, Mumbai (Indians). I always feel Mumbai Indians have the tenacity to cloud over difficult situations. Choone ki chatt hai vo, jitne thappad maarte jaoge utni he shakt hoti jayegi. If they can sort out their bowling and Hardik comes back into his own, Mumbai is a lethal side boss. Superb team.”

As of now, MI’s chances of reaching the IPL 2024 playoffs are in serious doubt. With just six points from eight matches played so far, the five-time champions are eighth in the points table, and if they want to reach the last four for the second year in a row, they have to win at least five of the remaining six league stage matches.
MI’s next match in IPL 2024 is against the Delhi Capitals on Saturday (April 27), and it will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
