biden rips trump, fox news at white house correspondents dinner: ‘sleepy don’

President Joe Biden ripped Donald Trump and Fox News during his address at the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday. The Democrat called his 2024 rival a ‘six-year-old’ and also joked about his hush money trial involving adult film star Stormy Daniels.

During his address, Joe Biden mocked Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, “Thank you for the warm welcome. Please not so loud. Donald was listening. Sleepy Don. I kind of like that, I may use that again.”

Responding to trolls that he is too old to be President, Joe Biden joked and said, “Kelly O’Donnell, President of White House Correspondents Association- thank you for having me. Kelly, you are too young to be the President.”

It has been an year since I delivered this speech. My wife was worried about how would I do. But I told her, don’t worry, it is just like riding a bike. She said, that is what I’m worried about.

Joking about his political opponent, Joe Biden said, “2024 elections are in full swing and yes, age is an issue. I’m a grown man running against a six-year-old. I feel great, I am campaigning all over the country- Pennsylvania, Georgia, north Carolina. I’ve always done well in the original 13 colonies.”

Later, the US President said that age was the only thing he and Trump had in common, adding, “My vice president actually endorses me,” which was a reference to former Vice President Mike Pence’s refusal to endorse his former running mate Donald Trump.

Protests outside White House

Demonstrators holding banners chanted about journalist deaths in Gaza outside the Washington Hilton, the site of the annual gathering. Hundreds of protesters encouraged journalists to boycott the event and shouted down administration officials as they entered, Reuters reported.

Biden avoided the large protests at the front of the hotel by arriving through a back entrance, where he was greeted by smaller groups of protesters calling for a ceasefire.
