better they play 11 batters: former india world cup winner slams rcb, says he felt bad for virat kohli
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered their sixth defeat of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season on Monday (April 15). The home team leaked a huge total of 287/3 and failed to chase it. The Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) batsmen sent the RCB bowlers on a leather hunt and piled up a huge total on the board. RCB fell short by 25 runs in the end.
Former India World Cup winner, Kris Srikkanth seemed upset with RCB’s poor bowling and slammed them. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth said it’s better for RCB to play with 11 batters, adding that he felt very bad for Virat Kohli.
“Reece Topley is getting smashed. Lockie Ferguson was getting smashed. He has not done well in the IPL. He has travelled from Kolkata to Bengaluru. Will Jacks has been their best bowler,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.

“Better, they play 11 batters. Ask Faf du Plessis to bowl 2 overs. Give Cameron Green 4 overs. I think Virat Kohli wouldn’t have conceded this many had he bowled 4 overs. Virat Kohli is a decent bowler. At one stage, I felt very bad for Virat Kohli, who was just watching the balls fly out of the stadium. He came out angry when he walked out to bat. Head was smashing them, Klaasen, after that. But Abdul Samad’s knock was the final nail in the coffin.”
Reece Topley leaked 68 runs in his four-over spell while Yash Dayal went for 51 runs. Playing his first game of the season, Lockie Ferguson went for 52 runs and scalped two wickets. Vijaykumar Vyshak leaked 64 runs in his four overs.
Will Jacks opened the bowling for RCB and spent 32 runs in his three-over spell. SRH’s openers, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head went for the attack right from the start and added 108 runs for the first wicket in just 8.1 overs.

Head continued to punish the bowlers following Abhishek’s wicket and smashed 102 off just 41 balls. Heinrich Klaasen also played his part and hit 67 off just 31 balls. Aiden Makram (32 off 17) and Abdul Samad (37 off 10) gave a perfect finishing touch to SRH’s score.
Much was expected from Virat Kohli but he failed to convert his start into a big one. The former RCB captain departed for a 20-ball 42. Faf du Plessis scored 62 off 28 balls to keep RCB in the game.
Coming to bat at number 6, Dinesh Karthik slammed a 35-ball 83 but his efforts didn’t prove to be enough. With just one win from seven matches, RCB are at the last spot in the points table. They are staring at an early exit from the tournament.
