'Better place': Labour hails 'tremendous' local election results
These are absolutely tremendous results. We won in places that we’ve been doing badly before or haven’t had representation in recent years. I think these results have restored a sense of belief in the Labour Party when we’ve been losing elections for some time and that’s really important to carry forward into the general election. But I’m the 1st to say that nothing’s decided about the general election, not a single votes been cast in it. We go into it in a good position after. These results, But we want to work very hard to gain people’s trust and you’ll see from us over the coming weeks more policy announcements. To say setting out our case before the British people, because we know that’s really important in the run up to that election. I think we’re in a much better place than we have been for years. And if the Conservative response is to say, well, things are OK, I think that’s pretty complacent from their point of view. And I’m not sure complacency is a good response after elections.
