Pulmonary Fibrosis is a lung disorder where the lung is damaged, scarred and lung tissue becomes stiff which makes the lung difficult to work properly. It can be caused by multiple factors, but sometimes with no known cause, which is called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The lung damage caused by pulmonary fibrosis cannot be reversed, but medication and therapies can ease symptoms and improve quality of life. For some people, a lung transplant might be appropriate. So, medication, pulmonary rehabilitation, oxygen therapy, a healthy lifestyle will help to prevent the worsening of the disease.

Pulmonary fibrosis has no cure. Current treatments aim to prevent further lung scarring, to alleviate symptoms, and to keep you active and healthy. Scarring of the lungs that has already occurred cannot be reversed.
