Ashwini Vaishnaw Shares Video On India's First Ballastless Track For Bullet Train — WATCH

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw provided an update on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project on Thursday, saying that India’s first ballastless track for the Bullet Train, with a speed threshold of 320 kmph, has shown significant progress, with 153 km of viaduct and 295.5 km of pier work already completed.

Posting a video of the same on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Vaishnaw said, “Bharat’s first ballastless track for Bullet Train. 320 kmph speed threshold, 153 km of viaduct completed, 295.5 km of pier work completed. More to come in Modi 3.0”.

Earlier on Tuesday, Vaishnaw had informed that Indian Railways plans to install anemometers, in a bid to uphold the utmost safety measures.

“Ensuring the highest safety standards for the #BulletTrain project, anemometers at 14 key locations across Gujarat and Maharashtra will be installed,” he said in an X post.

What Is J-Slab Ballastless Track System?

The J-slab ballastless track system consists of a pre-cast track slab on which fastening devices and rails are installed. This slab sits on the RC track bed. This slab has a thickness of around 300 mm and constructed in-situ (at site) for individual UP and Down track lines on viaduct top. The width of the RC trackbed is 2420 mm. The width of the RC trackbed is 2420 mm.

The RC anchors are provided to prevent longitudinal and lateral restraint on the track slab. The dimensions of the RC anchor are 520 mm in diameter and 260 mm in height. A reference pin is installed in RC anchors to achieve the desired alignment (both horizontal and vertical). This is suitable for train speeds of up to 320 kilometre per hour.
