Will this be India’s Kwid EV?
Dacia will launch a new version of Spring EV on this February 21. Dacia UK, which was taken over by Renault in 1999, in an Instagram post revealed the launch of Dacia Spring EV.
The current version of Dacia Spring EV is being sold in a number of markets but has not been launched in India.
The new Dacia Spring EV is now expected to come to India as the Kwid EV but Renault has not revealed any timeline or confirmed the news yet.
The new Dacia Spring EV is believed to have taken some design cues from the popular Renault Duster SUV.
The Spring EV is expected to be a bit bigger with SUV like appearance with large wheels. As per reports, it might get a new grille and sharper headlamps.
The current version has a 33 kW (equivalent to 44 horsepower) engine offering 125 Nm of torque. It has a 26.8 kWh battery.
The France-based automaker had earlier said that it will introduce two SUVs on new platforms and a Made in India EV in the country by 2027 in January this year.
Renault with its partner Nissan is investing Rs 5,300 crore in India. As per a report in ET auto, the carmakers are planning to launch two small electric vehicles in India.
This year, a number of electric cars are slated to be launched in India including Maruti Suzuki eVX, Tata Curvv, Skoda Enyaq, Kia EV9 and Mahindra XUV e8. It will be the highest number of electric vehicle launches in the country in a fiscal year.
