Airtel announces new roaming packs

Telecom giant Bharti Airtel unveiled new international roaming packs for customers with tariffs starting at Rs 133 per day. The new range of packs covers 184 countries and offers enhanced data benefits, in-flight connectivity and 24×7 contact centre support, the company said in its statement.

“To make things as convenient as possible, Airtel has also ensured that customers travelling to these 184 countries no longer need to subscribe to multiple packs for various travel destinations and have the convenience to simply choose the duration of travel and enjoy seamless connectivity anywhere in the world through one single pack,” said the official statement of the company.

Key features of the new International Roaming Pack include:

  • Affordable packs starting at Rs. 133/day
  • One Plan to travel anywhere in the world enabling worldwide access with a single pack
  • An auto-renewal feature for frequent travellers

“The packs offer greater value with enhanced benefits that are economical when compared to local in-country sims across many countries,” said Amit Tripathi, Director, Customer Experience and Marketing at Bharti Airtel.

Earlier during the day, Airtel announced that it deployed additional sites in Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts in Kerala to densify its network. The network enhancement project was undertaken across 8 towns and 168 villages covering a 6.4 lakh population base.

For the October-December quarter, the telecom industry recorded a 1.88% sequential growth in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) to Rs 67,835 crore, led by growth of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, which expanded their 5G services. Bharti Airtel’s quarterly AGR, or revenue from licensed services, increased 3.22% sequentially to Rs 20,480.58 crore in the October-December quarter while Jio saw an increase of 2.67% to Rs 24,862.85 crore.
