Hero MotoCorp share price was under pressure in Thursday’s trading session on the day of ex-date for an interim dividend and a special dividend. To be eligible for a 5000 per cent dividend announced by the country’s largest two-wheeler maker, one must hold the shares of the Hero MotoCorp in their Demat account as on the record date or ex date which is same for this stock. At the time of filing this report, the counter was trading in red to quote at Rs 4,596.70 a share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), down by 1.43 per cent.

The Board of Directors at its meeting held on February 9 approved a total dividend of 5000 per cent for the shareholders, including interim dividend and a special dividend. A dividend is always declared on the face value of a stock and not on the current market price. The current face value of each stock of Hero MotoCorp is Rs 2.

The board announced an interim dividend of 3750 per cent, translating to Rs 75 per equity share and a special dividend of 1250 per cent, which translates to Rs 25 per equity share, taking overall interim dividend of 5000 per cent, i.e. Rs 100 per equity share for the financial year 2023-24, marking the centennial year of Chairman Emeritus Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal.
