Ten crew members were killed on Tuesday after two navy helicopters collided in mid-air during a military rehearsal for a Royal Malaysian Navy parade, the navy said in a statement. The collision took place at 9:32 a.m. local time (0132 GMT) on Tuesday at the Lumut naval base, situated in Perak.
“All victims were confirmed dead at the scene and sent to the Lumut army base hospital for identification,” the navy said in their statement.
The video of the clash and the resulting crash is now going viral on social media widespread attention on social media depicting one of the helicopter’s rotor striking the other leading to the crash. Subsequently, one helicopter crashed onto a track while the other plunged into a nearby swimming pool.

According to the statement released by the Royal Malaysian Navy, “Two helicopters, identified as models HOM (M503-3) and Fennec (M502-6), had collided and crashed at 9:32am (local time). Choppers were rehearsing for the Navy’s 90th anniversary event scheduled to take place from May 3-5.”
