Gov. Newsom Warns Democrats Should Be ‘Worried’ About Third Party Candidates

The California governor also strongly urged Democrats to get out the vote

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sunday warned that Democrats should be “worried” about third-party candidates.

While Newsom said he doesn’t think third-party candidates stand a chance of winning the election, he warned that they can be election “spoilers.”

“We have to be worried,” Newsom said during an interview on ABC’s This Week. But you also have to “you got to “control the controllables. You got to control what you have to control. And right now, it’s getting the vote out,” he added.

Newsom’s comments come as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. continues his third-party bid against President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

The No Labels party has also floated putting forward a “unity ticket” should Trump and Biden be named the presumptive nominees, and is currently seeking ballot access in states across the U.S.

Newsom added that he thinks many of the issues supported by No Labels are encompassed in Biden’s re-election campaign.
