Round 17 Teams: More bad news for Warriors, Titans sweat on Campbell scans, Rooster facing hefty ban

Gold Coast are sweating on scans of Jayden’s Campbell‘s right hand after he broke the club’s all-time point scoring record in the 66-6 win over the Warriors.

Campbell suffered the injury early in the match before kicking 11 goals and scoring a try for a personal haul of 26 points.

After the match Campbell’s hand had blown up like a balloon and he said he hoped it was just bruising but it could be fractured.

Campbell was also fined $1000 for grade-one dangerous contact while Warriors centre Roger Tuivasa-Sheck was sent to the bin for an above the horizontal lift on the five-eighth – but the tackle was a borderline penalty offence. He will have to pay $1000 for the grade one dangerous throw.

The Titans have the bye this round before taking on Cronulla at Coffs Harbour next Friday.

The Warriors could be without half Shaun Johnson this Saturday when they host Brisbane after the veteran twinged a hamstring in the Titans hammering.

Roosters centre Junior Pauga is facing a four-week ban for a nasty stiff arm on Bulldogs fullback Connor Tracey.

He rushed in off his edge and caught the chin of Tracey, who was visibly rocked after the illegal contact.

Pauga was charged for a grade two reckless high tackle and will be suspended for the next four rounds unless he challenges the judiciary, risking a fifth week on the sidelines.

Storm interchange forward Trent Loiero is facing a two-week ban for a crusher tackle on Dolphins centre Herbie Farnworth.

It is Loiero’s second offence this season – but he will escape the charge with a $3000 early plea.

Dolphins recruit Tevita Pangai jnr was put on report for a late tackle on Storm prop Christian Welch on Friday night in his NRL comeback but has only received a grade-one dangerous contact charge from the match review committee.

Pangai will pay $1000 and is free to face St George Illawarra.
