Star Trek Actors Band Together to Save Lower Decks
Fans and crew alike were disappointed at the cancelation of the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks. In a show of their support, Star Trek actors from the franchise's many properties banded together to help fans save the show.
In April 2024, it was announced that Lower Decks’ fifth season would be its last. Creator Mike McMahan and Showrunner Alex Kurtzman expressed their disappointment over the cancelation and thanked fans for their continued support. However, the fans aren’t willing to give up on the show. As seen in a video posted by Jessie Gender After Dark, fans gathered many of the franchise's cast members via cameo to perform the show's “lower decks” chant in a show of support. The chant first appeared in Season 1, Episode 1 and was adopted by fans to show their passion for the show. While fans paid for the video, it still serves as a testament to their love for the series.

The end of Lower Deck came as sad news to fans of the series. Since its release, the animated series has garnered a dedicated fanbase. While Star Trek fans still have Strange New Worlds to look forward to, fans of Lower Decks’ are unhappy with the decision to discontinue the series. The video features Star Trek actors from the series' many iterations over the decades. Both voice actors from the series and actors from more recent live-action Star Trek properties joined in the chant. Additionally, many veteran actors in the franchise, Robert Picardo from Star Trek: Voyager, Nana Visitor from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and John De Lancie from Star Trek: The Next Generation all made appearances in the video to show their support for the show.
Fans Plan to Continue Their Campaign
Fans plan to continue their efforts to save the show. The fan-run campaign urges fans to sign petitions and continue streaming the series to show that fans still want more. They’ve also proposed that a different platform, like Netflix, host the series instead. The crew behind the show also hopes for the show to find a new home.
