Russia Thwarts Major Ukrainian Drone Assault: 114 UAVs and 6 Naval Drones Intercepted| Watch

120 plus drones fired from Ukraine over Russia. Zelensky returns to war as the peace summit fails an answer to Russian retaliation, according to the Russian Defence Ministry. A total of 114 unmanned aerial vehicles was shot down overnight, along with the interception of six naval drones in the Black Sea. This massive operation was described as an attempt by Ukraine to carry out what Russia terms as a terrorist attack on Russian infrastructure. The majority of the intercepted drones, approximately 70, were reportedly taken down over Crimea, a region annexed by Russia in 2014 and a frequent target of Ukrainian attacks. The Black Sea Fleet was credited by destroying 6 unmanned surface vehicles, highlighting the multi dimensional nature of these attacks. In addition to Crimea, other Russian regions also were affected. Krasnodar region saw 43 drones intercepted, while one UAV was shot down in Volgograd region. The governor of the Krasnodar region described the incident as a massive attack on civilian infrastructure in the city of Krasnodar. A boiler facility near a bus terminal was also damaged, resulting in one workers is dead and several injuries, and all refinery in the city also suffered damage to its administrative buildings. The Russian Defence Ministry later reported the interception of three more drones in Briansk region, which borders Ukraine, indicating the widespread nature of these attacks. These drone raids are a part of a pattern of Ukrainian attack on Russian border regions that have been ongoing since the war started back in February 2022. Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russian oil refineries and storage facilities with long range kamikaze drones since January, aiming to disrupt Russia's energy infrastructure. In response to these attacks, the Russian President Vladimir Putin also justified the intensification of Russian strike on Ukrainian energy infrastructure and military industrial facilities, put an emphasis that these retaliatory strikes were timed to coincide with warmer weather to minimize the humanitarian impact of potential power outages. The day before the massive drone interception, Russia confirmed carrying out another large scale missile and drone attack on Ukrainian targets. Ukraine's national electric company, Ukraine Ergo also deported damage to its facilities in several parts of the country, including Kiev region. This attack, the seventh of its kind since March 22nd, is expected to result in further restriction on energy consumption in Ukraine. This escalation in drone warfare and infrastructure targeting on both side highlights the evolving nature of the war and increasing use of unmanned technology in the Modern Warfare. It also highlights the ongoing tensions and the potential of further escalation between Russia and Ukraine.
