Krispy Kreme launches Friends-inspired doughnuts in the UK — dismaying fans in the US

In honour of the legendary sitcom Friends turning 30, Krispy Kreme has launched four limited-edition doughnuts.
Even though Friends is a symbol of '90s American culture, the North Carolina-based company is offering the sweet treats only in the UK.
The decision has dismayed many Americans.
Krispy Kreme announced its specialty doughnuts on Monday (June 17), saying: "COULD WE 'BE' ANY MORE EXCITED?!?!".
“Each doughnut is a tribute to one of the most iconic TV shows inspired by fan-favourite characters and episodes.”
These are the four doughnuts:
- "Friends" — An original glazed doughnut topped with chocolate icing, sprinkles, and a white chocolate "Friends" logo topper.
- "How You Doin’?" — A classic ring doughnut dipped in purple icing with mango and passionfruit frosting.
- "We Were on a Coffee Break" — A glazed doughnut topped with caffè latte-flavour icing, chocolate swirl, frosting, and a white chocolate topper.
- "Trifle" — A strawberry and custard-filled doughnut topped with chocolate curls and green sprinkles.
Under the Instagram announcement post, one user commented: “This is where I am just confused by the decision-making process. Friends was a huge US show (I know it is big internationally as well, but come on), yet this is a UK thing, wtf? I love getting to see all of these cool flavours and snacks, but it’s also showing me how much we miss out on.”
Another said: “I’m a huge Friends fan and I would’ve loved to see these donuts in a Krispy Kreme shop in the US.”
“Can I get these shipped to the US? LOL,” asked one person.
Another highlighted the UK’s links to Friends by saying: “UK? But that's where Ross met Emily! And Monica and Chandler started being more than friends and doing laundry!”
Krispy Kreme says the doughnuts will be available in “Krispy Kreme shops, supermarket cabinets, and online for nationwide delivery until 21st July”.
