As he hangs up his NFL cleats, Texas alum Colt McCoy eyes a potential coaching career
Texas Longhorns legend Colt McCoy, who started four years under center at Texas and led the Longhorns to the 2009 season’s national championship game, is done with football.
At least he’s finished playing after retiring from the NFL a few months back.
McCoy saw the end as his physical ailments worsened, he said recently, according to Sports Illustrated. “I just physically wasn’t able to” continue playing, McCoy said.
So, what’s next for the Texas hero?
“37 years of my life I’ve been playing football,” McCoy said. “I started at three years old as the waterboy on my dad’s high school football team and I haven’t missed a day since. And so to walk away from football full-time I don’t think that’s a reality.”
SI noted that McCoy went on to hint at a future coaching career, as multiple outlets reported.
It’s not hard to imagine.
