Krispy Kreme Offers Limited-Time $1 Doughnut Deal

Krispy Kreme is offering a dozen glazed doughnuts for as low as $1 on Thursday to celebrate the start of the summer.

Customers can get a box of 12 original glazed doughnuts with the purchase of any dozen on the official first day of summer. Monday through Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., the chain is offering half off a box of a dozen glazed donuts.

Krispy Kreme will also be surprising some customers with free doughnuts on Thursday.

The half off promotion is called "Hot Light Happy Hour" and Thursday is the "Hot Light-est day of the year," referencing a light Krispy Kreme has in its store to notify customers that fresh doughnuts are coming out of the oven.

"We can't think of a better way to celebrate summer's official start than some sweet deals on our iconic Original Glazed dozens," Dave Skena, Global Chief Brand Officer for Krispy Kreme, said in a news release.

To claim the half off deal, customers should use the code "HOTNOW" for online and app orders. The limit for in-store purchases is two dozen while online and app is one dozen.

The code for Thursday's deal for online and app users is "Summer."

The chain also recently made news for introducing several doughnuts inspired by the sitcom "Friends," in honor of the show's 30th anniversary, at its U.K. locations.

The collection includes: classic Friends doughnut with a glazed base and chocolate icing, a plain doughnut with purple icing and a mango and passionfruit frosting called the "How You Doin'?", a strawberry and custard filled doughnut with icing, chocolate curls and green sprinkles called the "Trifle" Friends doughnut, and a plain doughnut with latte-flavored icing, frosting and a chocolate swirl called "We Were on a Coffee Break."

While many have seemed excited by the new collection, some fans of the show in the U.S. have complained that it's a U.K. exclusive.

Krispy Kreme is not the only chain celebrating the start of summer with a special promotion. Kroger is offering free Kroger brand ice cream to its customers on Thursday.

Customers can head to FreeKrogerIceCream.com and downloading a limited-time, single-use digital coupon to claim the deal. It applies to all Kroger brand pints, including classic flavors like Chocolate Chip and fan favorites like Tie Dye Burst, while supplies last.

The deal can be redeemed on in-store, pickup or delivery orders and it is valid until June 27.

The promotion is being run at all Kroger-owned stores, except in the states of California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, Nevada, Tennessee and Virginia.

Some chains are celebrating the start of summer with new menu items, including Taco Bell, KFC, Chick-fil-A and Dunkin'.
