Interview with the Vampire EP Reveals the Anne Rice Book the Series Will Adapt Next
There is still much of Lestat de Lioncourt's story to be told. Interview with the Vampire showrunner Rolin Jones recently revealed which of Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles novels would form the basis for a potential third season of the AMC series.
While speaking with Collider about Interview's second season — which is currently airing Sundays on AMC — Jones opened up about where the series will look next now that Rice's 1976 novel has been fully adapted to the screen. "There’s no [third season] green light. I can’t talk about it. I can only talk about this: The next book I would do would be The Vampire Lestat," Jones shared, which is Rice's 1985 sequel to Interview with the Vampire. "That’s what I think it’s called, so that’s what I would like to make."

Jones continued by mentioning that Interview with the Vampire has already begun "pulling from other books," including The Vampire Lestat. "We’ve pulled from The Queen of the Damned. We’ve pulled from The Vampire Armand. We’ve pulled a little bit or at least some seeds from The Body Thief. There’s some stuff from Prince Lestat," Jones added. "We’ve read them. We’re building these things as if they’re all one giant thing."
Anne Rice's Immortal Universe Is AMC's Next Big Franchise
Interview with the Vampire premiered on AMC in October 2022, with a first season consisting of seven episodes. A second season, dubbed Part II, began airing on the network in May 2024. Season 2 will comprise eight episodes and is scheduled to conclude on June 30, 2024. The series stars Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt, Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy, Assad Zaman as Armand, Bailey Bass and Delainey Hayles as Claudia, and Ben Daniels as Santiago.
Interview with the Vampire is the first series in AMC's Immortal Universe franchise, which is based on Rice's The Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches novel series. The second series, Mayfair Witches, headlined by Alexandra Daddario, premiered in January 2023 with an eight-episode first season. A second season is currently in post-production, having wrapped filming back in April 2024. Unlike Interview, which has received glowing reviews from critics, reception to Mayfair Witches has been more mixed, although viewership is on par with, if not higher than, Interview.
