Sony started the PlayStation Stars program as a reward system for players to earn digital collectibles, but the system has been experiencing issues lately. While PS Stars is down, PlayStation is giving away new goodies to all players as a gesture of goodwill. Everybody loves Astro Bot, the cute robot that has always helped Sony show off its latest console hardware. Now, you can sport an Astro Bot profile picture too with Sony's latest giveaway.
One of the biggest issues from PS Stars going down is that players haven't been awarded certain digital collectibles. These collectibles were to be rewarded after finishing certain community challenges during the Days of Play sale, which ended over two weeks ago.
Since one of the challenges included playing Astro Bot for a certain number of hours, Sony is recognizing the robot's fans by giving away PSN avatars.
Here are the PSN codes you can redeem to unlock the free Astro Bot avatar:
- North America: MKHX-PJGL-HQA2
- Europe, Australia, and New Zealand: JPFQ-66LN-QGLJ
- Japan: 4GDE-JE36-4L6E
- South Korea: 8M8N-HE7E-A8XP
- Hong Kong: 7M3H-D6JE-JDAJ
The codes can be redeemed until July 11, 2024, so you can get some free avatars. To claim the avatars, navigate to the PlayStation Store on your PS4/PS5, select your profile, and click "Redeem Code". Fortunately, you don't need a PS Plus subscription to redeem these.
As for Astro Bot, the mascot is getting a big promotion with a standalone game releasing later this year. In the vein of the Super Mario Galaxy games, Astro Bot will feature over 80 planets and various easter eggs in the form of other PlayStation franchise mascots like the Bloodborne Hunter.
Astro Bot will be released on September 6, 2024, for PS5.
