Channel Seven viewers point out one major issue with Sunrise's Cash Cow Giveaway: 'It's a mess'

Sunrise viewers have pointed out a glaring problem with the program's return of the Cash Cow giveaway.

Channel Seven announced on Friday that the Cash Cow was making a permanent return to the breakfast show this week, with lots of cash prizes up for grabs.

But fans of the beloved cow have pointed out a major flaw with the competition - there have been very minimal details on how to enter.

A member in an online forum MediaSpy pointed out the giveaway's terms and conditions, which reads: 'A minimum of $5,000.00 or the jackpot amount that is available on the day of call if the Winner answers their telephone when called as set out in clause 5.3.

'If the Winner does not answer the call as set out in clause 5.3, they will receive a $100.00 consolation prize ('Consolation Prize'), and the money will jackpot to the next call.'

The jackpot amount will be in $5,000 increments, and the total prize pool value is up to a maximum of $20,400.

One user called out the program for failing to mention the competition's fine print on air, saying it 'hasn't been the best promotion of the Cash Cow'.

'Detail is not Seven's strong suit,' another member wrote. 'Essentially they just want people to enter and not think about the fine print.

'Judging by the Facebook comments today, some people are turned off by how much info they have to input to enter.'

'I would've given up looking for the link if I was interested in entering,' someone replied. 'Initially I found it embedded in an article about the Cash Cow returning.'

One added: 'Oh it's a mess. Once upon a time it would be the first thing to hit you when you went to the Sunrise website.'

Entry details are now accessible via Channel Seven's website and are listed at the top of the Sunrise homepage.

Cash Cow previously offered giveaways to viewers, with a chance to win as much as $10,000. This was normally done by viewers finding a code word and entering the competition via SMS.

The move to a free online form was made so that participants avoid SMS costs.

'We know it's been a big change for the audience of Australia's #1 brekky program to not have to pay to enter via text. This new free form is available to anyone,' a Seven spokesperson tells Daily Mail Australia.

'It was the most visited page today and has been moved to the top spot so no one can miss it. You can enter the Sunrise Cash Cow giveaway here.'

Monique Wright said on the show on Monday: 'Forget about a code word or SMS, there is an easier way to enter. Head to the website to enter. It is super easy.'

'Have your phone close by. We are going to be calling you and, yes, you must answer in three rings or the prize will jackpot.'

Back in April 2022, the lovable mascot was retired from the show for a surprising reason.

There was no editorial decision made to drop the Cash Cow, but instead she was forced off the air due to changes in SMS premium services.

However, as viewers will now be entering the competition online, this will no longer present an issue.

Meanwhile, Channel Seven confirmed the news in a statement: 'After a brief graze in the paddock, Cash Cow is back and she's bringing a cash pool with her.'

They added a large sum of money would be given away every day next week to a lucky viewer.

'An udderly impressive $5,000 will be given away every day next week. However, if viewers don't answer within three rings, the amount will continue to jackpot.'
