Australian Interior Design Awards: Two WA projects claim wins across Commercial and Residential Categories
The Australian Interior Design Awards 2024 took place in Sydney over the weekend, celebrating the industry’s most innovative and eye-catching works both nationally and abroad.
Two Western Australian projects claimed honours in exemplifying design excellence, with judges looking for sophistication, ingenuity and a focus on materiality.
“There’s a freshness that characterises (this year), regardless of how long they have been in practice. It just goes to prove that as an industry, we are showing no signs of fatigue, and our capacity for excellence and innovation has only been strengthened, “ the jury commented on the collection of works.
Best of State in the Commercial category for WA, East Perth designers Rezen Studio were recognised for their unique approach to Fremantle’s iconic High Street 2023 newcomers Vin Populi.

Known for 70 years prior as the address of Roma Cucina restaurant, the new owners responsible for relaxed yet refined favourites No Mafia and Balthazar were able to create a space the jury couldn’t look past.

Recognised as Best of State for WA in the Residential category was Proclamation House — imagined by Subiaco-based architects and designers State of Kin.
Described as a “contemporary interpretation of Subiaco’s archetypal character homes,” the 515 square metre home was completed last year and is characterised by sharp and striking features with a resoundingly Earthy feel.
The unique, multi-level property offers a single-level façade but burrows deep into the ground behind the scenes to present a pool and lounge area among several liveable spaces.
