Bowen happy with England performance in 1-0 Euro win against Serbia
Hello. Congratulations. Thank you, Jared. Huge congratulations. How special about the media your first appearance and made it all? Yeah, No, it's obviously getting selected was one thing. And I said to myself, I want to step foot on the pitch. And, you know, I've managed to do that and to do it in an occasion where, you know, we was defending the leads and be part of that holding. Holding the lead was yeah, for for me, just myself as a really, really special moment. But obviously for us as well was the first group game was really important. We wanted to obviously win. And we came came away here with with three points that we can take into Thursday. The manager always has a lot of faith in you because the game was in the balance when you came on. What did he say to you? Just said just just be me. And I think, you know, I'll, every time I'm on that pitch, I'll always work, try and be the hardest worker on the pitch and, you know, try and help the team. You know, there was times where we we kept the ball and really took this thing out of the game where, you know, I think it think it was needed and just a bit of maybe a bit of fresh legs as well. But when I'm needed, I'll always try and, you know, make an impact and do my bit for the team and also work as hard as I can. England was so dominant in the first car, I really had to dig in in the second car. What change did you see? A lot of implementation, yeah, No, I think it's probably the game that we expected. You know, they've got some really quality players, especially up front. You know, there was very direct, we expected that where obviously Mitrovic's Vlahovic's two target men was, you know, a real problem. But you know, when you're 1 nil up, you know, first group game, like I said, we wanted to win it. You're holding on to that to that lead on another day. You know, the keeper makes a world, he saves a tip onto the bar and then you know, that's two nil with 10 minutes to go and the game's probably done then. But you know, when it's one nil, there's always a chance for them to to get a foothold in the game and have another chance. But, you know, I think in tournament football, you have to do that. You have to defend your lead. You have to be compact and be keep the ball out of the goal. You know, it's a clean sheet, which again, in tournament football is really important. So you know, it was the last 10 minutes is probably what we expected. We knew that they'd be pushing, pushing and pushing for for an equalizer. But like I said, I think we dug in really well and grinded out the win. Yeah, no and no. I just said then every every question that seems to be to be asked of him, he always delivers the goods. And again tonight with the ball of calmness and the maturity off the ball, won the ball back so many times and obviously in the right place at the right time and took the header really well. And I just felt sorry for their full back because he was coming in, you know, full steam ahead and the the full backs had no chance when he was coming in at that pace. But again, it's the anticipation of being in the right place at the right time. And, you know, again, again, the difference maker. So, you know, to have him on your team is, you know, never a bad thing. Finally, Italy won their opening game. Germany won their opening game, Spain, the Netherlands as well. Does this feel like a statement from England? Is this a game you needed to win in that sort of tournament? Yeah, definitely. I think when you've got the first group game, you know, people would have probably looked at our opponents. So we should be winning. But you know, it's never, it's never as easy as that. You know, with a team like like Serbia, the way they they fight, the way they work and the quality, they've got to go with it as well. So, so for us, we knew it was this game is a is a must win. You know, you take confidence from winning your first game. And we can take all that confidence going into Thursday where we've got another big game against Denmark, which would be difficult, but we're going there to win that game as well. Thank you. Thank you.
