Chase Elliott’s crew chief Alan Gustafson breaks down solid day at Iowa | NASCAR
Here at the end of an exciting Iowa race with Alan Gusts in the crew chief for Chase Elliott. A third place finish for the 9 crew tonight. You guys had the speed. It looked like it possibly could be a Victory Lane night for you guys, but you told your driver to save some on the start of all these runs. It looked like you had their long run speed there in the nine. What more do you guys need? Yeah, our car was really good on the long runs. I think there at the end, it's hard to say. You know, the track gripped up a little bit, which probably hurt us. I think our car was a little better when it was a little slicker and we can make more time. Those guys seem to fall off a little more as we ran. And yeah, kudos are the 12. They did a good job and got out front and Ryan got through traffic good. And yeah, I thought we'd run William down and had a shot there and just couldn't make it happen. So. Super proud of the guys, another great car, you know, another great finish competitive day all day long so. Yeah, I mean, we would love the one, but yeah, I've just got to keep him around. You guys have the win in Texas, so you're locked into the playoffs. But the consistency of this team, they have not finished outside of the top 20 all year long. What can you say about this nine crew right now? Yeah, it's a great race team now. And Chase is an amazing driver. And I think that. Yeah, everybody's working together. Well, I think it's about camaraderie and, you know, just everybody believe in each other and working hard every week and, yeah, going off and racing hard and putting ourselves in position. So, you know, I'd like to win more races. You always want to win more races, but. If you're there, that's when they come. Thank you, Allen. Thanks.
