Kristin McKenzie's soon-to-be husband Aidan O'Shea breaks GAA record for Mayo

It was a tense weekend for GAA fans as rivals Mayo and Dublin came face to face but for Aidan O'Shea, there was an extra element of excitement for him.

The midfielder/forward player who debuted in 2009 against New York, played his 90th championship game for his county.

The two most important girls in his life, his wife-to-be Kristen McKenzie and daughter Caragh stood on the sideline cheering him on.

While Mayo may not have got the result they wanted, drawing 0-17 to 0-17 with the boys in blue, the game certainly proved to be a thrilling watch.

After the match fans flocked to the pitch to try and get an autograph from their favourite player and as you can guess many of them headed in Aidan's direction.

While he was busy signing his name, Kristin posted a picture of Aidan with the phrase 'Record Breaker.'

The 33-year-old played his 90th championship game for Mayo and has overtaken Tyrone's Seán Cavanagh and now holds the most outfield appearances in Senior Football Championship History.

While Aidan may be concentrating on the championship he also is busy planning a wedding with Kristin.

While we don't know what the date of their wedding is the last time the couple spoke to EVOKE was in October, Aidan told us they were hoping for some time this year.

Exciting times ahead on and off the pitch.
