Luke Shaw did not take part in training alongside England's non-playing squad members on Monday, following the Three Lions' Euro 2024 opener against Serbia.

Gareth Southgate's side laboured to a narrow victory in Gelsenkirchen thanks to Jude Bellingham's 13th-minute header.

The Real Madrid star, along with the other 10 starters - plus subs Conor Gallagher and Jarrod Bowen - were absent from the training pitches as they completed a recovery session.

They were also joined by Luke Shaw, who - despite taking no part in the fixture - continues his specific regiment as he builds towards full fitness.

According to Henry Winter, the Manchester United left-back, who has not played since February, trained on Sunday and there remains a small chance that he could be involved in Thursday's Group C match against Denmark.

The likes of Anthony Gordon, Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer completed a training session at the team's base as they look to make their case to get minutes in the tournament.

Red Devils youngster Kobbie Mainoo was part of the 12-player group that were put through their paces by the England manager, having only entered the action in the 86th minute.

Despite the win and clean sheet - their fifth on the bounce in Euros group stages matches - England have come in for criticism from pundits, both domestic and overseas.

Southgate's side started on the front foot and were rewarded in the 13th minute when Bellingham nodded in from close range.

But Serbia grew in the game, especially after the break, and could feel slightly hard done by not to get anything from the game.

The head coach, though, remained confident that there are goals in his side, despite the unconvincing victory.

'Today was just the finishing and a good save from the goalkeeper from the (Harry Kane) header at the end.' He told BBC.

'But that will come. I'm confident we will score goals. You're playing against a back five. It's not easy to create chances, but we did and in the end one was enough.'

Attention quickly turns to the Three Lions' next fixture against the Danes when they could secure passage to the round of 16. England sit top of the group thanks to Denmark's draw with Slovenia earlier on Sunday.
