Footy pundits deliver brutal truth bomb to Queensland stars after nightmare first half sees them enter State of Origin hall of shame

Phil Gould & Darren Lockyer scathing of Queensland Maroons Came after NSW had a 34-0 lead in Origin game two at MCG Gould said Billy Slater's men had a 'soft mentality'

Footy pundits Phil Gould and Darren Lockyer have torched the Queensland Maroons after one of the worst first half displays in Origin history.

Speaking in commentary for Channel 9, Gould labelled the scintillating performance of the Blues 'men against boys' as they entered the sheds at the MCG 34-0 up.

'What we have witnessed is just extraordinary, it really is men against boys,' the Bulldogs supremo told viewers.

'It comes off the back of NSW's halves, the 6 and the 7 (Jarome Luai and Mitch Moses) have been excellent...their direction and kicking game has driven Queensland mad, they have no answers.'

Queensland great Lockyer - who represented his state in 36 interstate matches - was visibly stunned.

'It is a massive hole, I am in shock still,' he responded to Gould during the halftime analysis.

'Full credit to NSW, they were on the front foot in the first 40.

'We need to get some good kick chase and do what NSW did to us in the first half.

'This is an enormous hole, we also need to build some confidence ahead to game three.

'I don't know where we go from here.'

Gould then accused Billy Slater's men of having a 'soft mentality' after they won the series opener earlier this month in Sydney - and will host the decider at Suncorp Stadium on July 17.

'If you aim that up with the improvement of the NSW team....it has been crucial,' he said.

'And the Panther group have been dominant (Luai, Brian To'o, Liam Martin, Dylan Edwards plus former teammate Stephen Crichton)....Mitch Moses has also come of age in the representative scene, he has been stellar.'
