Remoaner plot to unseat Tory MPs in more than 450 seats at election
Remainer campaigners are targeting Tories in more than 450 seats for a tactical voting push - and have made Rishi Sunak one of their targets.
Best For Britain unveiled a list of recommendations aimed at achieving the 'heaviest possible electoral defeat for the Government, to keep [the Tories] out of power for a decade and to avoid the election of Reform UK MPs'.
The organisation, which was formed to try to stop Brexit happening after the 2016 vote, is recommending people vote tactically for Labour on July 4 in 370 seats.
It is supporting votes for the Liberal Democrats in a further 69, the Green Party in three, the SNP in seven and Plaid Cymru in two. In around 180 seats it is telling people to 'vote with your heart' because there is no chance of a Tory win.
At a launch event in Westminster today it suggested a vote for Labour's Tom Wilson in Richmond and North Allerton could unseat the PM, as he is just seven points ahead in the latest Survation MRP super-poll.
It also set out a number of potential 'Portillo moments' featuring Cabinet ministers losing their seats, as it launched its GetVoting campaign, advising people how their anti-Tory vote is best used.
However the group refused to endorse voters to back Nigel Farage and Reform in Clacton, despite him being the main challenger to incumbent Tory Giles Watling.
Instead it is recommending a vote for Labour, who are currently third in the Essex seat.
It is also suggesting people vote Green in Waveney Valley in Cambridgeshire, where the party has just 14 per cent of the vote and is in fourth.
Best For Britain CEO Naomi Smith unveiled a list of recommendations aimed at achieving the 'heaviest possible electoral defeat for the Government, to keep [the Tories] out of power for a decade and to avoid the election of Reform UK MPs'.
Ms Smith said: We are telling people that in places like Clacton it would be a mistake to vote Conservative to tactically vote to stop Farage. We think Labour can win there, our polling bares that out and we know there is a significant effort going into those seats.'
Pressed on Farage and Reform being ahead in the polls in Clacton she added: 'We don’t want to get rid of the Tories, we want a change of government. We also want to keep the most populist, nativist forces off the opposition benches in the next parliament.
'We don't think that those who sow division and seek to divide our country have a place in the House of Commons and our data shows that actually Labour could do it in Clacton.'
Best for Britain also believes that a host of Tory Cabinet ministers could be at risk from tactical voting, including Penny Mordaunt, Jeremy Hunt, Grant Shapps and James Cleverly.
The data from Survation suggests that the Maidenhead seat of former PM Theresa May is also now a three-way marginal between the Conservatives, Labour and the Lib Dems.
This morning it unveiled new polling suggesting that in 621 out of 650 seats more than a third of voters say they are prepared to vote tactically to get the Tories out. That figure rises to 40 per cent in 234 seats.
