Harry Kane's wife shows support for England captain after he's trolled for Serbia post
Harry Kane's wife showed the England skipper plenty of love as the trolls circled following a quiet night for the superstar striker.
The Three Lions got their Euro 2024 campaign off to a winning start against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen. It was victory for Gareth Southgate's side but the forward was one of a number of players not able to get into full flow thanks to robust defensive performance by the Eagles.
Harry came in for some criticism after a demanding night and some supporters let their feeling be know after he took to Instagram. Toasting a winning start, he wrote: "Got the job done! So proud leading this team out and an opening game win is exactly what we needed. Onwards and upwards."
One told him: "Sorry cap, but even Pickford had more touches than you. Gotta up your game." Another bluntly told the Bayern Munich man: "You deserve to be dropped next game shocking performance." But loyal Kate wanted to make sure Harry knew she had his back, leaving a heart emoji under his photo of the team celebrating Jude Bellingham's goal.

Kate and Harry are childhood sweethearts and were both pupils at Larkswood Primary in east London. In 2017 he spoke about young love and knows they're the real deal. "If I was single now and meeting people, you’d never know if they were with you for the right reasons," he told the Evening Standard. "Is it the money? You’d never really know. So I’m lucky that I’ve got a childhood sweetheart."
The forward wasn't too concerned about his quiet night. "We knew it was going to be a tough game, Serbia pose a lot of threats and have some good players," Kane explained after. "They will make it a battle for you and I think we dealt with it really well. There was a spell in the second half where we got camped in our box.
"We found it hard to get out but it was an important win tonight. It's a tough game. They are a tough team and have good players. We stood up to it well and it is good to get the three points and for us to progress. It's good that we got the win today."
BBC pundit Gary Lineker offered his assessment, saying: "Harry Kane isn't necessarily sacrificing himself for the team in terms of the fact he can still get in the box and score goals," he said. "He won't be worried at all. "He is playing his part. He won't care about general touches, just those he can make to put the ball in the back of the net.
Speaking to PA in February, Kane spoke about settling in the new country and how his wife's arrival before Christmas really helped. He said: “It wasn’t easy, the first four or five months being in the hotel and being away from the family. That was for sure difficult so I was proud of the way I was still able to perform on the pitch in those circumstances.
“We’ve had a good winter break and everyone came back with me, the kids are in school, we have got the house. Month by month it starts to feel more like home, you meet parents at school, my wife is meeting new friends and you just start to meet new people and see new things. Everyone has been fantastic, all the fans here, the club have been great and trying to make me welcome and so far it is nothing but praise for everyone here.”
