Rachel Stevens admits 'falling for' Dancing on Ice partner led to 'messy' marriage split

S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens has opened up about the breakdown of her marriage to estate agent Alex Bourne after she 'fell in love' with her Dancing on Ice partner Brendyn Hatfield.

The singer competed on Dancing on Ice back in 2022, being partnered with US professional Brendyn Hatfield. The pair made it to the third week of the competition before being eliminated.

In an interview with The Sun on Sunday's Fabulous magazine, Rachel opened up about her "messy" split from husband Alex, who she married in 2009. "I knew that we were growing, that I was growing apart, but I was in turmoil, because, first of all, my kids."

She added that their marriage ended when she revealed to Alex that she had 'fallen' for Brendyn. "It was really scary, because I knew as soon as I said that, that was it."

On her new relationship with Brendyn, Rachel said: "He's a beautiful human. I really love him."

Rachel married property developer Alex in 2009, with the couple welcoming two children during their marriage - Amelie in 2010 and Minnie in 2014. However in July 2022, Rachel announced that she was divorcing Alex after 13 years of marriage.

Announcing the split on Instagram at the time, Rachel told her followers: "I just wanted to share with you all that after time and consideration the difficult decision has been made for Alex and I to separate.

"While we are no longer partners in marriage, we will remain partners in parenthood to our beautiful girls and continue with love and respect for each other. I feel so incredibly grateful for the life we built together and will now continue to be focused on moving forward united as a family."

Opening up about the split earlier this year, Rachel said that the split was "amicable" as they continued to co-parent their two children. "It's only the last two weeks that we've not been living together. That was definitely difficult. We're doing it with love and respect, but it's a process," she said.

On Boxing Day 2023, Rachel shared a photograph of her Christmas with new beau Brendyn and their 'blended' family. "A beautiful blended Christmas with our babas. Hope you had a gorgeous day with your loved ones xxx," she shared alongside a photo of her two daughters.
