Oilers Fans Want Former Maple Leafs Star and Author Zach Hyman to Have Reason to Pen a Comeback Story of Stanley Cup Final

The Edmonton Oilers made a statement on Saturday when they defeated the Florida Panthers 8-1 in Game 4 to avoid a Stanley Cup Final sweep.

When the game was over, TSN hockey insider Chris Johnston spotted a sign left behind by one of the fans in attendance.

'Give Hyman a story to write about," it said. Give us a story to tell!!!"

For context, Hyman has published three children's books. Two of those books, 'Hockey Hero' and 'The Magician's Secret' were published during Hyman's time with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Hyman departed the club in 2021 and signed a seven-year, $38.5 contract with the Oilers. To say Edmonton has been getting full value from the deal thus far would be an understatement after the 31-year-old scored a career-high 54 goals while adding another 14 so far during Edmonton's run to the Cup. In the lead-up to the final, Hyman has been candid about his departure from Toronto telling reporters during media day that leaving Toronto wasn't really his decision.

The Oilers are still in a massive hole as they trail the best-of-seven series 3-1 with Game 5 set for Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale. But if the Oilers did somehow pull off the comeback, it would make for one heck of a book.
