Two men were caught exchanging blows at an intersection on King Street at Newton, in Sydney's inner west, on Saturday afternoon.
A terrified bystander filmed the altercation with footage showing traffic building up while the fighters wrestled on the ground.
Two women stepped in and tried to separate the men as they jumped to their feet and continued to trade punches.
A woman wearing a check coat was seen slapping one of the man across the head.

The men were pulled apart and directed onto the footpath where the altercation continued.
A woman wearing a jacket was seen taking a swing at one of the men as he pushed her away.
Eventually the woman backed down and walked away.
The 26-second clip was shared on Reddit where social media users weighed in on the matter.
'That woman in the checkered outfit has huge balls to take on two big dudes fighting. Props to her,' one person wrote.
'Just the local Newtown ferals going about their day!' another added.
'Lol the cop shop is about 100m away,' a third person commented.
