The Tennessee Titans are historically known for destroying careers and underusing players who need to be used more and more frequently overall.
One player in specific comes to mind for me and the thought process behind it.
That player is Justin Hunter.
Hunter was a former Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver before being drafted in the second round by the Tennessee Titans. In his career at Tennessee, he had 18 receiving touchdowns and worked alongside talented athletes like CP84.
This was strong enough to land him a spot with the Titans in the 2013 draft.
During his career with the Tennessee Titans, we saw Hunter work alongside many talented players such as Kendall Wright but could never get going because of the terrible coaching staff. He spent three seasons with the Titans and in his rookie year had less than 20 catches with four touchdowns. He also has his Titans career-high of 28 catches the year following but only had three touchdowns.
Following his Titans career he spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills and his NFL career died from there.
His career died off and it wasn’t even his fault.
I will forever support Hunter as he is now an assistant coach at Memphis coaching the Tigers up to be the next wave of wide receivers.
It’s safe to say that Hunter was never given the fair shot that he rightfully deserves and that has been a trending topic in the past 20 years with Tennessee Titans players as many of the staffs in past time could never figure it out. Many are hopeful that coach Brian Callahan and his staff can figure it out long-term before another career is ruined!
