Tony Galati: Spudshed king tours Italy for business, bumps into Perth fan in front of famous Milan cathedral

Spudshed king Tony Galati has been stopped by a Perth fan halfway across the world as he takes on an epic mission across Italy to bring back authentic products to improve his business.

Galati announced the Tony On Tour on social media, with Milan as his first stop. He has already documented the initial stages of his journey for Spudshed’s 23k Instagram followers.

Standing in front of the famous cathedral, Duomo di Milano, Galati was filming one of his first videos when he was interrupted by a WA local begging for a photo.

“No way,” a woman can be heard saying. “We’re from Perth”.

“Another one,” Galati laughed.

“I was like, oh my god, is that the spud guy?

“I’m doing a walking tour, but I need a photo now,” she joked.

Galati agreed to the photo as the pair took the ultimate shot in front of the historic cathedral.

“That is great. You’ve made my holiday, and you’ve made my trip,” the woman said.

In a separate video, the Spudshed owner explained he was in Milan for “business” to see what “authentic products we can bring to our West Australian Spudshed customers”.

“I’m meeting with suppliers over the next two weeks to give it my ticket of approval,” he said.

The cult WA icon then asked followers for recommendations on what else he should get up to on his travels.

“Now that I’m here, what else do you recommend that I experience, taste or see?” he added.

The businessman has been making serious moves recently, bringing out his exclusive brand of locally grown and crafted potato chips, Spuddies.

The chips are made from potatoes grown on Galati farms across the State in Mylaup, Lancelin and Manjimup and can be purchased from all Spudshed stores.

Galati also surprised fans when he announced a collaboration with the wildly popular Perth clothing brand Street X.

The successful streetwear brand released some fun T-shirts, and the Spud King promoted them on social media.
